Current concerns include: rescuing Jews from areas of distress, facilitating community development in the former Soviet Union, helping to meet Israel's social service needs by developing innovative programs that create new opportunities for the countries' most vulnerable populations, providing youth programs in Eastern Europe, and nonsectarian development and disaster assistance.
