About Solomon's Legacy
When Harry S. Truman appointed Gus Solomon as the first Jewish judge of Oregon, Judge Solomon became sort of an informal welcome wagon for young Jewish lawyers arriving in Portland.

Judge Solomon would invite the new lawyer to his chambers for lunch and introduce the newcomer to other Jews in the legal community. Solomon’s Legacy was created by the Jewish Federation of Greater Portland in the tradition of both Judge Solomon and the biblical Solomon, also a wise judge.

Its purpose is to provide a forum for topics of interest to Jewish attorneys and to provide a mechanism for delivery of pro-bono legal services to the Federation’s beneficiary agencies.

If you are a Jewish legal professional (including lawyers, paralegals, legal assistants, and law students), and are interested in attending these events, please email Rachel Halupowski and you will be placed on the announcement/email list.

If you have additional questions concerning programming, please call Chuck Tauman, Solomon's Legacy Chair at 503.849.9281 or Bob Horenstein, Community Relations Committee Director at 503.245.6496.
