WHO WE ARE
The Jewish Federation is the central planning, coordinating, and fundraising body for a wide range of local and international agencies that offer the entire community a broad spectrum of humanitarian programs. The Federation's annual fundraising campaign supports integral social service programs and is the largest annual fundraising endeavor in the Jewish community. The Jewish Federation of Greater Portland was founded in 1920 and is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.
WHAT WE DO
Federation supports a variety of programs for people in need on a nonsectarian basis, locally and around the world. These programs include: care for the elderly and vulnerable; educational opportunities; counseling and vocational services; rescue, relief and resettlement programs; cultural and enrichment opportunities, and much more. In addition to our campaign we advocate, educate, train, and provide a chance to get connected. To learn more about our committees, click here.
HOW WE DO IT
Complementing the Federation's professional staff is a dedicated group of volunteers who ensure that Federation is amongst the most responsible fundraising agencies, keeping our costs of raising funds under 10%. Our generous volunteers live generously by donating financial resources in addition to volunteering their time, energy and expertise to help raise funds and oversee the thoughtful allocation of campaign funds to deserving programs and agencies. Volunteers also make up the backbone of our community by serving on various boards, committees, and donating their time to work at our affiliated social service agencies.
MISSION STATEMENT
The mission of the Jewish Federation of Greater Portland is to assure the building and strengthening of the Jewish community locally, nationally, overseas and in Israel, in accordance with Jewish values.
