Jake Tanzer will be honored as the Legal Citizen of the Year for his incredible career by Classroom Law Project. The Legal Citizen of the Year Award Dinner is an annual event that celebrates the outstanding, future-changing work of those who are helping teach, promote and protect civics and democracy. The gala will be held on April 23, 2014 at the Governor Hotel.
In 1964, Jake handled the grand jury investigation of the Ku Klux Klan in the murders of civil rights workers in Mississippi through the Department of Justice. Tanzer served as a Multnomah County Deputy District Attorney, the first solicitor general for the Oregon Department of Justice, judge on the Oregon Court of Appeal and a judge on the Oregon Supreme Court. After service on the Court, Jake joined the Ball Janik law firm and finished his distinguished career in mediation.
Classroom Law Project is planning an exceptional evening on April 23, 2014 with colleagues from throughout the legal and business communities, and friends of Jake Tanzer in attendance.
