A Little Shabbat—NEW DATES!
Young Family Shabbat, A little Shabbat
New dates have been added to this fun event!
Want to do Shabbat but have young children who will fall asleep at 6:30 pm? Come experience the joys (and not the oyes) as Shabbat enters. Join Rabbi Rose at 4:30 pm for a bit of “Shabbos feeling” music, songs, stories, puppets and an abbreviated Shabbat Service–just right for the little munchkins and you!

Join us for Shabbat Dinner!
A community that eats together, stays together! Shaarie Torah has mastered this. Join us for Kabbalat Shabbat services followed by a delicious kosher dinner. We do the cooking, set the table and the cleaning. You do the singing, praying and mingling. Have a L’chaim or two as well. Wine included!

Members: $15 for adults, $12 for children, $50 family max
Nonmember: $18 for adults, $15 for children, $60 family max


Preschool Family Education Program
Join us for a multi-faceted event on these select Sundays which carry different themes. This month’s theme: Chaunkkah!

Conversational Hebrew Class for beginners:
Wednesday, December 17, 6:00 – 7:30 p.m.
If you are interested in learning Conversational Hebrew, you are welcome to join.
Cost: $100 member fee for 10 lessons; $150 for a nonmember.
Future classes: January 7, 14, 21, 28, February 4 & 11

Boker Tov Portland: Jewish Learning for the Young at Heart
November 6 & 20, December 4 & 18, January 22
9:00 -10 a.m. – Suggested Donation of $3 per person
Join us for a bagel breakfast Torah learning and discussion with Rabbi Josh Rose.  The Rabbi will teach and lead a discussion based on the weekly Torah portion, including insights from classic commentaries, Talmud, and Kabbalah.  You’ll leave having made some connections, jazzed for the day and ready for Shabbat. 

No Hebrew knowledge required or necessary.

Please join Congregation Shaarie Torah for a wildly exciting and crazy third night Chanukkah Party!  Celebrate with us in style as we will have a buffet dinner, latkes, Chanukkah songs, edible dreidels, candle lighting and of course, our special entertainment: The Physical Comedy of Henrik Bothe!  Henrik will juggle, spin plates, ride a unicycle and so much more.

Coffee House Series

Our relationship year continues with coffee house series. Join a Hevreh (a group of friends) in someone’s home to study and talk Torah. A bit of social, a bit of learning and a lot of connecting!

Torah Yoga.
December 20th, 10:30
Join Rachel Stern as she engages with our toddlers and Preschoolers, accompanied by their parent, for an interactive Shabbat morning. Stretch out with Torah yoga and learn the stories of the Torah through song and dance. Come “Play and Pray”...and learn a bit of Hebrew!

Christmas mitzvah, followed by Spaghetti dinner at the shul!
Join us for a cookie mitzvah project at 2:00pm. Deliver it to worthy causes around town (hospitals, police stations, etc). Then return to the synagogue at 5:00pm for a tasty dinner made by our own Men’s Club of Shaarie Torah. Or just stick around and watch a movie on our screen.

$5 for those who helped with the cookie project or $7.50 if you just came to enjoy some food.

Rosh Chodesh:
December 28th, 7:00. Women are invited to share and nourish their souls with knowledge and spirit with one another. Meeting at CST unless otherwise advertised.
