Charlene Zidell follows an outstanding family tradition of community involvement, leadership, and generosity. She began her involvement with Federation as a member of the Allocations Committee, and eventually became Allocations Committee Chairperson.
Charlene’s goal with Allocations was to deepen the relationship between Federation and partner agencies, working towards better communication, increased dialogue, systematic change, and greater integration of community programs. She aimed at finding a way to shift the Allocations focus to community needs, and under Charlene’s leadership, the allocations process has taken a new direction that is beneficial to the entire community.
Charlene is currently a member of the Federation Board, as well as the Board of the Oregon Jewish Community Foundation. She has a deep personal interest in promoting public information related to cancer and recently spearheaded the Your Jewish Genes and Cancer Symposium. JFGP could not be more pleased to recognize Charlene Zidell as an outstanding volunteer and as our 2014 Song of Miriam honoree.
