Conversational Hebrew Classes for Beginners, Adult Class
Wednesday, December 3, 6:30 – 7:30 p.m.
Future classes: December 10 & 17, January 7, 14, 21, 28, February 4 & 11.

If you are interested in learning Conversational Hebrew, you are welcome to join.
Cost: $100 member fee for 10 lessons; $150 for a nonmember.

Boker Tov Portland: Jewish Learning for the Young at Heart
December 4 & 18, January 22; 
9:00 -10 a.m.
Suggested Donation of $3 per person

Join us for a bagel breakfast Torah learning and discussion with Rabbi Josh Rose. The Rabbi will teach and lead a discussion based on the weekly Torah portion, including insights from classic commentaries, Talmud, and Kabbalah.  You’ll leave having made some connections, jazzed for the day and ready for Shabbat.  No Hebrew knowledge required or necessary. This class is going great!

Not your Grandfather’s Torah
December 11th, 6:30

Every second Thursday of the Month at 6:30

In this monthly class we will explore different topics in Torah, ranging from mussar (Jewish self improvement), Jewish spiritual practices, the inner meaning of the holy days and more. Rabbi Rose will introduce the class to the texts, give individuals time to learn on their own and lead a discussion. Participants will walk away with a deeper knowledge of Judaism and practical tools to bring Jewish teachings and values into their life. Knowledge of Hebrew is not required and the class will be of interest to those with some familiarity with the topic and newbies as well.


A Little Shabbat

Young Family Shabbat, A little Shabbat
Want to do Shabbat but have young children who will fall asleep at 6:30 pm? Come experience the joys (and not the oyes) as Shabbat enters. Join Rabbi Rose at 4:30 pm for a bit of “Shabbos feeling” music, songs, stories, puppets and an abbreviated Shabbat Service–just right for the little munchkins and you!
 

Shabbat Dinner,

A community that eats together, stays together! Shaarie Torah has mastered this. Join us for Kabbalat Shabbat services followed by a delicious kosher dinner. We do the cooking, set the table and the cleaning. You do the singing, praying and mingling. Have a L’chaim or two as well. Wine included!

Members: $15 for adults, $12 for children, $50 family max
Nonmember: $18 for adults, $15 for children, $60 family max

Preschool Family Education Program

Join us for a multi-faceted event on  select Sundays which carry different themes.
This month’s theme: Chanukkah!

10:30am: Welcoming and parent/child activity according to theme.
11:15am: Snack
11:30am-12:30pm: While children will enjoy storytelling and playing, parents join Rabbi Rose in discussion on “ How Many Times Do I Have to Tell you? The Spiritual Growth in Jewish Parenting”
