The Aquatics Lead is responsible for providing support, management, and coordination of a seasonal staff of lifeguards (Aquatics Specialists). The role includes the safety oversight of all specialty areas (pool and open waterfront), while ensuring that duties are executed in line with training protocols.
Specific Responsibilities
Responsible for lifeguarding both pool and open water locations.
Must possess strong swimming skills and pass the American Red Cross Lifeguard Training & Certification course.
Oversee and conduct swim tests of every person on-site.
Maintain the upkeep of the Pool and Lakefront areas: including safety checks, daily cleaning, and weekly updates.
Assist in providing aquatics staff training both pre-camp and as needed throughout the summer.
Have knowledge of and enforce all aquatics policies and procedures.
Identify and prevent hazards occurring in aquatics areas.
Assist and coordinate in the setting up and taking down of aquatics areas and activities.
Assist in the daily scheduling of aquatics staff when required.
Instruct aquatics activities in a manner that ensures the safe use of equipment, checks for understanding and appeals to multiple learning styles.
Act as the Emergency Response Team coordinator during any aquatic incidents i.e., drowning incidents.
Qualifications
Must be 18+
Must currently hold or have previously held an American Red Cross Lifeguard Certification (if needed, training and certification will be provided on-site)
Oregon or Washington State recognized boat license (training can be provided on site)
2025 Season runs June 12-August 13
Full season salary: up to $3,500 DOE – room and board included (all meals, sleeping space)
