  • Marc N. Blattner

    President & CEO

    Marc Blattner has served as the President and CEO of the Jewish Federation of Greater Portland since 2010. During that time the Jewish Federation has raised in excess of $40 million, more than tripled the number of Federation-funded organizations, and brought new initiatives to the Jewish community. The focus of Federation continues to be to empower joyful and meaningful Jewish experiences to enrich people's lives.

    Julie has been with us since 2018. She works in our finance department, and serves as our office manager. If you ever call the Federation office, or have a question about your pledge statement, you will hear her cheerful voice and feel her friendly personality.

  • Jessica Anderson

    Regional Security Director

    Jessica Anderson joined SCN and JFGP in February 2022. She recently retired from the FBI after 24 years, serving as Supervisory Special Agent in Counterterrorism for the state of Oregon. Jessica brings rich relationships with Oregon law enforcement, state and national intelligence communities, and the emergency preparedness community. She has degrees in Anthropology and Forensic Science.

    Daniel started at JFGP in 2022 and has over 25 years of experience in graphic design, copywriting, marketing, communications, and social media management.

  • Robert Horenstein

    Director of Community Relations

    Robert has worked at the Jewish Federation for 27 years and serves as our Director of the Jewish Community Relations Council. This is a difficult job at the Federation as he works with committees (made up of representatives of community organizations and at-large community members) to build consensus on a variety of legislative and policy issues. He also works closely with other religious, ethnic, and cultural groups.

    Laura joined the JFGP team in 2023 as our Associate Campaign and Engagement Director. With a personal and professional passion for Federation, Laura brings over seventeen years of experience in development, engagement, and events. Her commitment and enthusiasm for community proves to be instrumental while building and supporting our Pathways, Portland Jewish Connection and Young Families programs.

  • Wendy Kahn

    Chief Development Officer

    Wendy Kahn is our Chief Development Officer and has worked at the Jewish Federation since early 2017. She brings incredible knowledge and passion to her role because she was an active lay leader at the Jewish Federation for many years. Wendy has helped to expand our Women’s Philanthropy programs, and Women’s Giving Circle, trains and coordinates new campaign volunteers for our community campaign and galas.



  • Rachel Nelson

    Rachel Nelson has been at the Jewish Federation since 2013 and comes from a family of Jewish communal professionals. She convenes the Portland Area Jewish Educators (PAJE), manages PJ Library, oversees our multiple grant programs, manages the Sussman Fund scholarship program, and leads our intergroup outreach efforts.

  • Rockne Roll

    Rockne Roll is the editor of the Jewish Review. In 2018, Rockne and his wife moved to Seattle where he began a career as a freelance journalist before returning to Oregon in 2019. His clients have included The Oregonian, the Bend Bulletin, Willamette Week, Seattlerefined.com and Baseball America magazine.

  • Caron Blau Rothstein

    Chief Allocations and Engagement Officer

    Caron has worked at JFGP since 2011. Currently she staffs our community allocations process, coordinates our 2023 Trip to Israel, and oversees our demographic study. Caron manages Rachel’s Well Community Mikvah and serves as the “concierge” to welcome newcomers along with managing other special projects. A master networker and community weaver, Caron loves to help people and organizations make connections.

    Ben has been at the Jewish Federation since 2006. He ensures all community dollars donated are used wisely and for the purpose intended. Under his leadership, the Jewish Federation continues to be under or at budget every year and maintains “clean audits.”
