The Evening of Yom Kippur - Sunday, September 20
5:00 PM at Gesher in SW Portland
Sharing A Spiritual Meal Before the Beginning of the Fast, followed by Yom Kippur Evening Services
Rabbi Laurie Rutenberg and Rabbi Gary Schoenberg of Gesher invite community members to their Bridge Home, which is also Gesher, for an intimate communal experience of the most holy day of the Jewish Year, beginning with a light, delicious vegetarian dinner to prepare us, together, for the Yom Kippur Fast. We will dig deep, and support one another in the spiritual journey we are called to engage in on this Awesome Day. This Gesher experience is particularly suited to be inclusive of Jews and loved ones who may feel alienated from the Jewish community, for whatever the reasons may be.
Lighting of yahrzeit memorial candles will follow dinner before we begin our Kol Nidrei Yom Kippur Service.
We invite you to join us in wearing white on this Yom Kippur evening, and ask that you dress for the weather for celebrating outdoors.
The evening will take place outdoors in the forest, underneath a heated tent, at Gesher in Southwest Portland.
RSVP is a Must. More information and RSVP are at www.ourjewishhome.org. Call Rabbi Laurie at Gesher - 503. 246-5070, with any questions, or if you would like to find a way to be helpful. Address will be provided when you RSVP.
Contributions of $36 - $72 are requested. All are welcome, regardless of ability to contribute this amount or to contribute at all.
