Jews and the Labor Movement: Justice, Justice Shall You Pursue
Reflections on Jews and the American Union Movement
Speaker: Prof. Bob Bussel
In the Pollin Chapel
From its inception, Jews have played a major role in the development of the American union movement. This talk by Dr. Bob Bussel, a historian, former union organizer, and director of the Labor Education and Research Center at the University of Oregon, will explore the evolution of Jewish involvement in the union movement and trace how this involvement has changed over time. Dr. Bussel will also review the contributions Jews have made in improving the lives of workers and assess what future role Jews might play in the union movement’s revitalization.
