This series of workshop sessions will be led by Robert Freedman, Havurah member and author of Forty Years In the Desert: A Bar Mitzvah Tale and Fancypants. Workshops will be held at Havurah Shalom, 825 NW 18th Ave, on Mondays, 7-9 pm, beginning Oct. 20 and ending Dec. 8.
We all have stories to tell...
This workshop will help participants discover those stories they want to write and share. Through the use of writing prompts, assignments and group critiques, we will explore the world of memory and shared experiences. Students will (hopefully) feel liberated from their inner critics and get down on paper even those stories that they may have been reluctant to look at in the past. We will also emphasize experiences that are uniquely Jewish in nature, reflective of our culture and identity - whether we are Jews by birth or by choice, or among the still perplexed.
No particular experience is necessary to participate in this workshop, other than a desire to explore your internal terrain and to be an attentive and thoughtful listener for other people's sometimes intimate discoveries.
The workshops are free for Havurah members, $150 for non-members.
