Thirty years ago, during Neveh Shalom's 120th year, a group of congregants spent a year developing a prayer book that featured gender-neutral language. At the time, this was a necessary endeavor as nothing existed that would meet their needs. From that labor of love, CNS's Oneg Shabbat siddur was published. It has faithfully served the community.

Thirty years later, the Conservative movement’s prayer books, and especially the new Lev Shalem siddur, feature much better, gender-balanced language. Additionally, it provides more transliterations, and helpful commentary to deepen people's prayer experience. As such, it is time to celebrate the retirement of the Oneg Shabbat prayer book and to thank those who were involved in its creation.

There will be an opportunity to hear from Elaine Cogan, who chaired the committee. Please join in for this special farewell tribute. Ilene Safyan will be helping to lead the service.
