Sephardic Winter Film Festival

Films shown SECOND Tuesday of each month at 7PM Admission & Sephardic dessert are FREE.

Movie: ISLAND OF ROSES, the Jews of Rhodes in Los Angeles. When the Holocaust reached the island of Rhodes in 1944, a five hundred year civilization was destroyed.  Today some of the last surviving “Rhodeslis” are living in Los Angeles.  Is Sephardic culture, customs, songs and food being transmitted to children and grandchildren? This film takes a realistic view of the state of affairs in this community.

English language, 55 minutes, 1995, Producer Gregori Viens, Discussion following film.
