Songs by Amy Shapiro and Book Talk by Ruth Lindemann

Holocaust child survivor, speaker, and author Ruth Lindemann has written two books of historical fiction using the courageous stories she has heard from Holocaust survivors during her 35 years as a speaker. She will share her personal experience as a Jewish child in Austria before and during WWII, and read experts from and talk about her newest book They Will Not Be Forgotten, which is a sequel to To Survive is Not Enough.

Ruth is a member of the Oregon Jewish Museum and Center for Holocaust Education Speakers Bureau, and currently lives in Palm Springs speaking to students and groups for the Tolerance Education Center. Website: Ruth Lindemann

Amy Shapiro is a well known singer and songwriter delighting both audiences and congregants in the Portland area for many years. She sings folk, Yiddish and Jewish melodies, and leads services at Cedar Sinai Park and at the Robison Health Center. She has shared her music at many kinds of events including the anniversary commemorations for the Oregon Holocaust Memorial. This is a highly anticipated special Next Generations Group event that is open to all, and there is no cost for attending. Next Generations Group, formed in 2011, is comprised of descendants of Holocaust survivors and refugees, and includes survivors, refugees and other supporters impacted by the Holocaust who want to keep the stories alive and relevant. The group meets in the Portland, OR area for social, educational, and service projects.
