Morgan St Theater, a dessert pop-up, is collaborating with Mikdash and hosting a Tu B'Shevat dessert seder. Seating is limited to 20, tickets are $25 each, and include a flight of ice cream desserts, an interactive dessert seder, coffee and tea, and many interesting Portlanders!
Tu B'Shevat, also known as the New Year of the Trees, has historical roots in Judaism's agricultural past when one divided the tithing of one year's crops from the next. During the Middle Ages, Kabbalist Jews rediscovered the festival with mystical interpretations and rituals for the holiday. Unlike early Zionists who saw Tu B'Shevat as a celebration of Jewish land (and trees,) the Kabbalistic approach encourages us to open ourselves to mystery, wonder, creativity and celebration. Steeped in both mystic practice and modern-day environmentalism, Tu B'Shevat is a unique and often under-appreciated holiday in the Jewish Year.
Morgan St Theater welcomes you to celebrate Tu B'Shevat with flavors from the holiday's seder plate, and an evening of reflective discussion focused on the themes of this beautiful holiday. Equal parts thoughtful, delicious and engaging, Morgan St Theater is excited to host another dessert pop-up paired with storytelling and interesting Portlanders!
