Join the Jewish Volunteer Corps for a meaningful day of service as part of Jewish Federation of Greater Portland's Good Deeds Month! The Mitzvah Makers provides quarterly hands-on volunteer days for our youngest volunteers and their families - welcoming children of any age. We're coming together to give back, build community, and make a tangible impact in the greater Portland area.

At this service project, we’ll be partnering with Our Just Future at their family shelter, where volunteers will provide a day of fun and levity crafting and playing alongside families navigating the struggles of housing insecurity. This is a unique opportunity to connect directly with community members while supporting an organization that has been advancing housing, economic, and racial justice in East Portland and East Multnomah County for over 36 years. From operating nearly 900 units of affordable housing to providing eviction prevention services, emergency shelter, and employment support, Our Just Future plays a vital role in helping individuals and families achieve stability and self-sufficiency.

Whether you’re looking to meet like-minded families, deepen your connection to the community, or make a hands-on difference, this volunteer experience offers a powerful way to engage. Come be part of a collective effort to turn compassion into action—and help ensure that everyone in our community has access to dignity, stability, and support.
