Congregation Beth Israel mourns the loss of Ilaine Joyce Cohen, z”l, who passed away on Nov. 1, 2025, at the age of 92.

Ilaine is survived by her son Stuart Cohen (Barbara) and daughter Stacie Cohen, and two beloved grandchildren, Will and Caroline. Ilaine was preceded in death by her spouse of 50 years, Edwin Cohen, z”l, her sister Roberta Hunt, z”l, and her parents, Hy and Sybil Samuels, z”l.

A Celebration of Life for family and friends will be held at a later date.

Donations in Ilaine's name may be made to William Temple House and Portland Literary Arts.
