Accounts Receivable and Development Assistant

Position: Accounts Receivable and Development Assistant
- Compensation: $21.50 -$24 per hour; Generous benefit package including Medical,
Dental and Retirement
- Reports to: Director of Finance
- Hours: Full Time; Non-Exempt
Congregation Neveh Shalom is a warm, welcoming, vibrant Conservative Synagogue in SW Portland
with more than 850 families and 150+ years of creating meaningful Jewish connections for our
members. We are recruiting a skilled Accounts Receivable and Development Assistant.
ACCOUNTS RECEIVABLE & DEVELOPMENT ASSISTANT
Finance (Accounts Receivable)
- Receive and process payments and donations for Congregation and Schools, including
payments by cash, check, credit card, ACH, and donor-advised fund
- Bank deposits
- Manage all recurring credit card and ACH payments and keep these accounts up to
date.
- Invoice all member accounts, including but not limited to: Membership commitments,
Annual Giving, and tuition.
- Generate donation receipts
- Support efforts to bring in payments for receivables in collections
- Create A/R reports for all departments (as needed)
Development
- Support administration with Annual Giving, spring fundraiser, and other events
- Work with Finance Director to maintain budgetary records of income and expenditures
for fundraising events
- Using CRM data provide administration with A/R reports on Annual Giving, dues, and
other events
- Analyze A/R for donor trends, for presentation to Development Committee (as needed)
Administration
- Back-up to receptionist when receptionist is out of the office
- Answer phone calls if receptionist is unavailable
- Assist receptionist with major office mailings
- Create forms to assist with donations, payments, or event registrations
Membership
- Support administration with membership campaign
- Send membership renewal information and add charges for new fiscal year
- Onboard new members in CRM and alert staff to outreach opportunities
- Maintain CRM notes
Miscellaneous
- Continue to develop expertise in ShulCloud, and provide assistance to other
departments
- Other assignments (as needed)
Qualifications
- Previous experience in areas of data entry, finance, and development including
accounts receivable and bank deposits
- Proficiency with MS Office applications, with advanced Excel skills; working knowledge
with Customer Relations Management Software a plus (ShulCloud).
- Ability to prioritize, with strong attention to detail, initiative, and follow-through
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Strong interpersonal skills, with excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work both independently and in conjunction with other team members to
achieve common objectives
- Experience within a non-profit environment strongly preferred
- Knowledge of basic bookkeeping procedures
- Good math skills and the ability to spot numerical errors
- Ability to handle sensitive, confidential information
-Working knowledge of QuickBooks a plus.
