About the Eastside Jewish Commons
For decades, eastside community members dreamt of creating opportunities to engage in Jewish life closer to where they live, work, and play. This dream has come to life at Eastside Jewish Commons opened in July, 2021 at NE 24th and Sandy.
EJC is:
A community space for individuals to connect, learn and grow.
A venue for events, activities, and programs offered by 26 community partner organizations, as well as individuals and other groups.
A venue for “EJC Presents”, hosting 60+ events annually, including, music, lectures and films
A co-working space for Jewish community professionals.
About the Position
The Development Coordinator will be the key leader in fundraising and donor development. They will report to the Executive Director. This is currently a part-time role (12-20 hrs/week).
Development Director Job Responsibilities:
Design and execute an annual fundraising plan to meet revenue generation and donor engagement goals.
Manage portfolio of 225+ donors using Keela software.
Prepare and present regular reports on progress towards fundraising goals to EJC’s Development Committee and Board of Directors.
Plan and execute 2-3 special events annually, in concert with the Executive Director
Manage grant writing program, including identification of new grant opportunities.
In coordination with EJC’s Executive Director, produce donor communications, and annual impact report.
As needed, assist in creation of print, digital and social media content.
Interact with and maintain regular correspondence with donors.

 

Development Director Qualifications/Skills:
Applied understanding of basic fundraising principles and development best practices
Strong prospect identification and qualification skills
Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading ability
Strong interpersonal, verbal communication, and presentation skills
Database and spreadsheet proficiency
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PP) and Google Workspace
Knowledge and experience with Portland’s Jewish community a plus

Education and Experience Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree
Minimum five years of fundraising or non-profit experience
Previous management experience a plus
Proven track record of meeting fundraising goals and securing major gifts

This is a contracted, part-time position with largely flexible hours. Both work from home and on-site are available options. Compensation is $50-60/hour.
