In conjunction with OJMCHE's exhibit Pointing the Way, an exhibit about ceremonial Torah pointers, Boise based artist Anika Smulovitz will speak about her art and metalwork. Two of Anika's Torah pointers are held in the Barr Foundation's collection, one of which is currently on display at OJMCHE.

Anika Smulovitz's scholarly and artistic work draws on the rich history of the field of Metals/Jewelry. Her work confronts the concepts of power, beauty, religion, and cultural values, while bringing insight to the discourse between material culture and contemporary society. Smulovitz's current research is focused on the non-neutrality of materials, issues of adornment, the body, and Jewish ritual objects. Her work is included in the permanent collection of The Jewish Museum in New York, NY. She also holds a US Design Patent for her Lip Liners.
