What’s the Big Idea?
Big Idea #1: Hate at Home: Racism and Anti-Semitism in the United States
The last several years have seen a deeply troubling uptick in racist incidents in the United States. At the same time, Anti-semitism has been roaring back in the United States and in Europe as well. Can racism and anti-semitism be explained by recent changes in our modern world? Or are they rather deeply engrained in the history of the United States that simply resurface from time to time ? And are these trends connected to one another?
Rabbi Rose will sit down with Eric Ward, Director of the Western States Center, an activist who has been outspoken about racism and Anti-Semitism. The two will talk about how African American and Jewish communities should think about how to respond to this scourge, and think about how these peoples’ history in the United States positions them to be allies in the fight for a more decent society.
