Multicultural, Multifaith, Eco-Social Justice Climate Action Teach-in, Discussion, and Celebration of the Earth!
In the P’nai Or Community Sukkah

October 4th, the 7th day of Sukkot, is Hoshanah Rabbah- the day of the Great Save Us prayer-a millennia old Jewish tradition of prayers  for saving the earth from drought, pestilence, famine, and exile.  October 4th is also the Feast Day of St. Francis of Assisi, who loved animals, trees, and nature and sought to make peace between Islam and Christianity in the times of the Crusades. St. Francis is the saint of ecology and interfaith relations.

October 4th also completes the Shmitah year, the 7th year of cyclic resting of the land, taught by Torah, & the day to read Torah passages instructing us to protect the Earth and the poor, and forbidding the amassing of great power and wealth.

 * Song, dance, earth prayers, and an opportunity to learn from the Rabbinic Letter on Climate Crisis, the Islamic Climate Declaration, and the Pope’s Encyclical.

*  Join the discussion about what WE can do in our own lives and politically. We’ll have petitions to sign and Climate Action Organization info available.

* Then stay and share of the abundance of our harvest with a potluck!
