In conjunction with the exhibit Auto | Biography Kenneth Helphand, Philip H. Knight Professor of landscape Architecture Emeritus, University of Oregon will offer a lecture on "The American Road".

“The American Road” looks at how the automobile, and the road that it created, have impacted the American landscape. From the horse and buggy and Model T’s to interstates and cruise control our homes, way of life and environmental experience have all been transformed. It has been noted that roads are the longest-lived marks of civilization. What do ours tell about us?
