Painter and moving-image artist Shelley Jordon will discuss her artwork in the exhibition Ordinary Matters. In these paintings, animated installations, and films Jordon explores interior and exterior worlds and the complex nature of memory. Using traditional forms of drawing and painting as well as hand-drawn animation, Jordon focuses on everyday objects and brings out their emotional and psychological resonance. She will also discuss how recent collaborations with composers and roboticists have influenced her studio practice.

Bio

Jordon is a Professor of Art at Oregon State University. She has had more than fifty solo exhibitions in museums around the world, and her short films have won awards in numerous international festivals. She has received support from: the Ford Family Foundation, Portland Regional Arts and Culture Council, the Center for the Humanities at OSU, The Center for the Humanities, OSU, the Wexner Center for the Arts, Lucas Artist Resiidency at Montalvo,and the Oregon Arts Commission. She was the first Visual Arts Fellow at the American Academy in Jerusalem.
