New Year's Hike to Horsetail Falls

In the week between Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur, we are going to leave the confines of normal life and get out into nature again - this time to Horsetail Falls and, weather permitting, Oneonta Gorge. The plan is to explore the hike and discuss how nature interacts with our Judaism.

Horsetail Falls is a 2.6 mile loop hike in the Colombia River Gorge. It has some special features including a second waterfall called Ponytail Falls where you can walk behind a waterfall (while staying dry), and some spectacular vistas from viewpoints.

Oneonta Gorge is a 0.6 mile out-and-back scramble over a log jam and through a river, to reach a swimmable pool and waterfall at the end. There is scrambling and wading involved for this, so please only attempt it if you are willing to get wet and have appropriate footwear.

Looking forward to seeing you there!
